A little about my kids classes:
We generally begin with an exercise to shake everything out, loosen everything up and start to connect our body to our breath. We then find a seated position, stretching our face, doing 3 OMs, and talking a little about what yoga is and why we're doing it. Feeling a little more centered, students warm up with animal breaths and postures on all fours. Afterwards we shake it out, find our "time to play" and then come back for "time to listen." We then go through a series of sun salutations using animal associations to help bring ourselves into the moment without stress. Afterwards we relax in savasana to regain our natural breath. At this point in the class we begin our asana part of the practice which incorporates a game, theme or story, or a focus on building cooperation in partnering poses. Afterwards we cool down with a few final stretches, relaxing in savasana for a few minutes. Students finish class with 3 OMs, a singing bowl. We leave a little time for questions and to reconnect verbally with why we do yoga. Namasté!
